One of the most important cultural monuments in Austria, the Katterburg as it was previously called has been in use since the early 14th century. Tenants of greatest acclaim were the Habsburgs who gained possession of the estate in 1569 and held it for 630 years. The palace and its elaborate gardens are an essential part of Viennese history, and of every visit.
